Hands-on with Assassin's Creed Recollection on iPad
House of cards
Along with the deathmatch game Assassin's Creed Rearmed, Ubisoft is bringing the original card strategy title Assassin's Creed Recollection to iPad later this year. We spent some time with it this week, and it's much more intense and rewarding than we expected.
If Rearmed is a match game disguised as an action title, Assassin's Creed Recollection is a fast-paced experience hidden in a card collecting game.
Played one-on-one against the computer or another over wi-fi, Tactics is all about gaining control over three regions. You win the game when you control two out of three areas.
Playing with powerEach card has a particular power that requires some of your limited energy but has the potential to increase your strength in a region. In our hands-on, using, say, the heavier-hitting action cards gave us an early advantage, but left us with little energy to defend ourselves later.
Despite the simple premise, Recollection has great visual effects and a nice presentation. It'll be interesting to see how these two very different Assassin's Creed titles fare when they hit the iPad later this fall.
